I have received an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.
It was supposed to be a way to end the devastation in the Middle East, but instead a darkness is unleashed unlike anything the world has ever seen before.
Ike Glass is well versed in chaos, but even he is unprepared for what the world will become after the outbreak. Ace Cullen has been loyal to his country ever since he was brought to the states as a young boy, but it’s difficult to stand by a country that can’t even take responsibility for their own actions. Phoenix Blue just wants a night of mindless sex… is that too much to ask? Always a black sheep, she shocks everyone as she finds the strength inside herself to protect the ones she cares about, and fight to see another day. They were strangers when the virus took over, but tragedy will bring them together in ways they never thought possible as they descend into the darkness.
OMFG! This was AMAZING! Simply as that! I have read it in 2 days only because I had to pause to get something to eat, sleep and go to work! Brilliant dystopian novel, and I can honestly say that it’s as good as Tara Brown’s books! And it says a lot!
Into the Darkness is telling us a story form few POVs: Phoenix, Ike and Ace (Cullen). All are strong characters and have instincts to simply survive.
The story: it all begins with Ike and Ace, both military guys, trained to kill and survive, are called to Area 51 Lab to see a new weapon. What they see is not what they expect. It’s horrible, bloody and simply inhumane. After this, the so called weapon, which in truth is a biological sickness is spread within hours across US. They get separated and Ike is determined to find his family and save them.
For Phoenix it started differently. After the disease has been already known and when Government tried to make people stay in their houses, locked and prepared for anything, she rebels and goes for…a date. Once she comes back home in the morning, nothing is the same and her instinct to survives kicks in. After fighting to get away from her sick family she meets Ike. Together they try to survive and find Phoenix little sister, Rian, who is in boarding school.
I really liked the story, even though you have a feeling that you have already read such book, but characters are different and also Phoenix is such kickass heroine that it just makes you want MORE!
I just can’t wait for next part as after that AMAZING cliffhanger (I do love good cliffhangers!) I am just on edge to find out what happened next!
Well deserved 5 stars!
