The cold tile floor on which I sat sent chills through the thin material of my robe to my nearly bare skin, and the cinderblock walls holding me upright were as unforgiving as my conscience. “I’d be on my own if you were.” I put my hands behind my head.

“And you don’t like being alone?” He studied me in the darkness. Sometimes I wished neither of us had night vision. It left you so naked, never having an opportunity to hide.

“I do most of the time.”

“But not always?” His eyes raked over my body. The fact that he could make such a platonic conversation feel sexual gave me even more reason to resist him.

“Why does it matter?” Often the best way to avoid a question is to ask your own.

“It matters because I asked it.” And there went his mouth again.

My annoyance gave me back my will power. “Put a shirt on.”

“Why?” He grinned. “Am I distracting you?”

“No, but we should go. The sun will be up soon enough.”

“Maybe I shouldn’t go with you.” He sat up, swinging his legs off the side of the bed.

“No way.” I moved to standing. “You’re not backing out.”

“Why do you care?” He stood with his back to me. “You can do this alone.”

“Of course I can.”

He turned to me. “Then why does it matter if I go my own way?” He pulled on his t-shirt, and a little part of me missed the view.

“Because we agreed to help each other out. I stick to my promises.” That was one of my good traits. The not so good traits weren’t worth reflecting on.

“Maybe I don’t.”

“You do.” I put a hand on my hip. I didn’t have time for Jared’s games.

“How do you know?”

“I just do.”

“You’re infuriating.”

I groaned. “And what are you?”

“Charming.”

If I’d had liquid in my mouth I would have spit it out. “Not exactly the word I’d use to describe you.”

“Says the girl begging me to stay with her.”

“I never begged.” I crossed my arms over my chest.

“Would you beg?” His grin was his undoing.

“Is that how you like it, Jared? With your women begging?”

“I wasn’t talking about how I like my women.”

“Are you sure about that?” I grabbed my backpack and headed into the cabin’s small bathroom.

“Where are you going?”

I paused with my hand on the door. “To shower.”

Firstly, I have to thank Alyssa for providing me with an ARC copy. Secondly, I just want to thank her that she decided to be an author and share all the stories with us. This book is simply amazing. It’s thrilling, pulling you in straight away so much that you are just not able to put the book down.

Jared’s and Vera are the most funny, infuriating and entertaining couple ever. I loved every letter with them. You are never boring with them. They are both trying to learn how to trust people, how to interact with others and also not to run away from the problems they are facing. And one problem is quite a huge shock for both of them. Their feeling towards each other. What was supposed to be only passion and lust, turned to be a totally different thing. Jealousy, possessiveness and trust are the feeling they promised never to feel.

I just love how Alyssa made those two characters compliment each other. They strong, loyal and stubborn. But they also know how to be there for each other. Even if they don’t want to admit it they already give the vibe of the perfect couple and that sends a message to anyone interested: SHE/HE IS MINE!

The story is amazing. It picks up straight after last part: Vera and Jared are travelling to Vera’s family Island, where she is supposed to meet her mother and father. But they both don’t expect to find secrets, fate and possibility of a war, that no one could have seen coming.

I loved this part. Jared is the one for me. I love Levi and Owen, but Jared with his jerk attitude and soft heart is the thing that always pulls me to a perfect book boyfriend.

I can’t wait for the next part, especially when you can see that everyone starts to fall into place from other books, creating an even more amazing story!

Excerpt One

We’d been learning how to shoot for a couple of months now. It had been Theresa’s idea, and these sessions had started to replace our wine nights. It had also been her idea to have Noah be our instructor. Carter was the better shot, but Theresa still liked to keep her distance from him. He still made her uneasy.

Amanda had asked her about it one night at their apartment when I’d gone to the bathroom. I stopped in the hallway when I’d overheard Theresa explain, “It’s not that I don’t like him. It’s just…he’s a killer, Amanda. He’s dangerous. I know he loves her, and I know if anyone is going to protect her, it will be him, but…” She’d sighed. “I don’t know. He’s known as the Cold Killer. It’s hard to get past that, even though I know Emma loves him so much.”

Amanda had asked, “Are you worried for her?”

“No.” She’d hesitated. “I mean…maybe. I’m not worried for her from him, but because of him. He’s with the mafia.”

“She said he’s out.”

“Yeah, well, is anyone really out?”

Amanda had replied, “She wasn’t in trouble before because of him. Emma and I did that all on our own.”

“I know. I really do, and I feel bad, but I’m just on edge with the guy. He’s deadly. Can’t you see it in his eyes?” Theresa got up for the kitchen. “I need a refill. You?”

I had melted backward, back into the bathroom. When she’d crossed the hallway, the bathroom door was shut.

Glancing over at her now, I remembered how her smiles had seemed more forced that night, her laughter a little louder, and the secretive looks she’d sent Amanda’s way. They were roommates. They were going to talk about me. That was obvious, but I’d been hurt, though I knew I shouldn’t have been.

Theresa worried about me. I tried to keep telling myself it was as simple as that.

 Excerpt Two

As I held the gun, alone now, some of the old memories came back to me. But they were never very far away.

I had killed two men.

“Jeremy.”

My voice had been soft when I called to him. He’d been raping my roommate, and he was going to kill her. I had no choice. When he turned around and saw the gun in my hand, I shot him. The bullet hit the center of his forehead.

I swallowed now, remembering Mallory as she had watched me, pinned to the wall by his hands. Her eyes had been so lifeless. They were the opposite of Ben’s. He’d been pleading for his life, but minutes earlier he’d been planning to kill Amanda, then me. My stomach churned, remembering that he was going to take me to Franco. He wanted to barter, trade me in for more money, more drugs.

He was the one who killed Mallory, but the Bartel family set all of it in motion.

I drew in a ragged breath, cradling the gun in my hands like a precious baby. This little piece of metal had caused so much havoc in my life, and it was Carter’s weapon of choice. He’d killed plenty with it when he worked for the Mauricio family.

Somehow, I knew this weapon would have a place in our lives again. I didn’t want it to, but I knew it would. And with that last thought, my hand closed over it, and I raised my arms, aiming with my feet apart, my shoulders rolled back. I shot, one after another, until my clip was done.

All except one hit the bullseye. The other one, the outlier, was just outside the inner circle on the target.

I’d have to get better.

 A tingle started in the base of my stomach, and it rose up, spreading through my body, warming me as it went, until I was almost salivating for him. When I saw him, I needed to touch him. It had been like this for a year, and I never wanted it to end. I always wanted to thirst for him.

He murmured against my skin, “Why is it that your presence can calm me? Your touch can make me alive, and one little sigh from you makes me want to sleep for days in your embrace?”

I smiled, moving to press a kiss to his ear. “Because you love me.”

Pulling me back into his arms, he nudged my legs farther apart, moving closer, and pressed his lips to the underside of my jaw. He whispered, “Never.” Another kiss to the corner of my lips. “Ever.” A third kiss, his lips resting atop mine and he murmured, “I promise. Nothing will ever happen to you.”

“Because you need to understand. It’s time you know more. You’re mine, Emma. My first allegiance is to you. Things are going to happen now, and I can’t control them. The Mauricio family has always followed me.”

Suddenly I realized—he was going back in. A tear formed in my eye, and I ignored it. This was what he was telling me. I swallowed over a lump. “What happens now?”

He didn’t answer at first. Then he let out a soft breath of air and turned, his eyes pained. He said one word: “War.”

I closed my eyes and just felt her. She trailed a hand down my face, tracing my lips. That small touch, so gentle, so loving. That was Emma.

No other woman made me feel like this. It was her, only her. Opening my eyes, I found her watching me and smiling as her chest heaved for air.

“I love you,” she murmured.

Goddamn. I kissed her and whispered against her lips, “I love you too.”

I closed my eyes and held the man I loved. Resting my forehead to his, I placed my arms on his shoulders as he held my hips. His thumbs rubbed back and forth. This. Right here. He was the most powerful man I knew, and he was all mine.

I didn’t begin writing until after undergraduate college. There’d been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can’t blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I’m hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! My thoughts:

Clay’s Hope is the same story as from Hope(less), the first book in Judgement Series), but this time it’s told by Clay.

After reading Hope(less) I couldn’t imagine that this book will be different. Just a recap. I was a bit sceptical, as Clay is not really talkative… and I was afraid that it will be just description of the events… How wrong I was!

Clay’s Hope is a beautiful story of a man, who was not looking for love, but was hoping deep down that he will find the one and only. How shocked he was, when he met her during Introduction to other potential mates. His panicked mode made him to come with this genius plan to not talk to Gabby, his mate. I laughed so hard at that.

But the story is beautiful. It shows how the slow progression between Gabby and him in their relationship was difficult and heart breaking was for him. During many occasions he thought that she was giving up, and he was closing up even more, because he was afraid that he will start beginning her to stay with.

Even all the torment and situations, where he was so scared of losing Gabby, he is also really funny. He can laugh and be quite mean. Haha the scene with his first laundry? OMG…I cried so hard from laugh 😀

Loved this book.

Amazing 5 stars.

Character Introduction: Lansing Lotte

Paisley Belle reporting for Guitar Central. Today’s interview is with Lansing Lotte, guitar hero for the award winning rock band, The Nights. Despite the recent tragedy for The Nights, I was able to sit down with Mr. Lotte in a small coffee shop down the street from his historical home in New York City. Perkins Vale, drummer, and Tristan Lyons, bass guitarist, will be joining us soon, but with the few private minutes alone, I begin my inquiry.

Let’s start with how you got into music?

L: My mother was the most instrumental in my introduction to the guitar. Pardon the pun. She was what you’d call laid back, a naturalist, almost hippy-like. Music surrounded us and she eventually taught me to play on a 1931 Gibson L-I Flattop. I still have that guitar all these years later.

Speaking of family, we understand you’ve had a rather unusual upbringing.

L: (growing fidgety) I don’t typically talk about it, but yes, Vivian DuLac is not my natural mother. Yes, I did inherit Logres Construction.

Lansing remains silent for a moment, reflective, and I decide to move on.

Tell me about your nickname: The Lady Killer.

L: (flinches at first, but then relaxes, pushing his longer bangs off his forehead) Yeah, well, I’m okay with the ladies (a sly crooked smile begins and those blue eyes sparkle), but I’ve been known to make a few mistakes, break a few hearts. Maybe one too many. (sighs).

Broken hearts, what about being a hero?

L: (sitting up straighter and continuing to fidget with the coffee cup in front of him) I wouldn’t say I’m a hero. I did what anyone would do. I have…a connection…to the little girl. I needed to get to her.

(Raising my eyebrow) A connection, how?

L: (smiling deeper) It’s a long story (laughs).

Well, tell me the story of the band. How did you all come together?

L: I met Arturo when we were teenagers; he’s two years older than me. It was a fight over a girl (he looks away for a moment). Anyway, met Perkins in the woods one summer. We just sort of clicked. He’s a natural on the drums. Met Tristan after Arturo went to college. We just gel, a band of brothers.

(I soften my tone) And speaking of brothers, how are you all holding up with the news of Arturo?

L: What news?

Well, the recent events surrounding Arturo and his…

L: There is no news. All we know is Arturo was in an accident. I’m sure you’ve seen the images. Graphic. Disturbing. But we are still hoping for the best. He’s been spotted sporadically, but we don’t have any definite leads. What we do know, is if Arturo King were dead, we would all feel it. Our connection is that strong. If one goes, we would know it.

In an attempt to change directions, I ask: How is Guinevere DeGrance?

L: Why?

I’m taken aback for a moment and then he continues.

L: I apologize. Guinevere is holding up the best she can. Obviously this has all been quite a blow to her. She’s been through a lot, but she’s a strong woman. She’ll make it through this. She has me. She has the band. We are all there for one another.

There for each other, but who is there for you, specifically? (winking)

L: (seeming to relax). Someone amazing is there for me. I didn’t see her coming, but she means everything to me. She’s changed my life, literally. It’s a new chapter for me, and I’m looking forward to where this will lead (smiles deeply).

I can feel the exciting energy for his unspoken new love interest, but I decide not to pry further.

Okay, can you comment on your world tour being cancelled?

L: We had to cancel. We won’t continue without Arturo, so we decided to wait. The fans have been understanding. We are still working on finishing the album, and looking forward to a release tentatively in August. We appreciate everyone’s support for Arturo and we are certain he feels the love they keep sending out to him.

At that point, a beautiful blonde woman and a little girl dressed in a ladybug costume enter the coffee shop. Lansing’s attention shifts immediately and the little girl waves to him. He winks at her and she giggles in response. I don’t miss that his eyes wander up to the woman who waits patiently in line for coffee, not acknowledging him. The weight of the Lady Killer’s attention must be too much, because she turns toward us, and slowly smiles at Mr. Lotte. I’ve seen that look before on a few ladies of society. This one definitely has more-than-a-crush on the rock star sitting before me, but I can tell by the look on his face, he feels the same way about her.

There’s no sign of Perkins Vale or Tristan Lyons, but I can’t wait to get the nitty-gritty on the quiet member of the band, Perkins. That giant drummer has some secrets, and I can’t wait to learn them next.

I have received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by Heather. To be honest when I started reading it, I didn’t expect anything. It was well after midnight when I started it…. and straight away I was pulled in. I went to bed at 3 AM, just because my husband took the kindle from me and told me to sleep.

The writing style of the author was just amazing. I loved it from the first paragraph.

In the book we meet Kallie (I love this name, is so unique!), when she is 8 and is taking a picture of a ladybug. I thought it’s adorable. I loved her connection she had with her mum and brother. Few years pass and we meet Heather in present time, when she is a successful photographer and owns her own studio. Over the years, Kallie has strictly stayed true to her most important rule: DO NOT DATE YOUR MODELS. She didn’t have any problems with it. Until she meets Jax Burke. He is kind, handsome and hot as sin. And also unavailable to her as he is her new model. The chemistry between them is instant. They can’t deny it, but only Jax is willing to act on it. Kallie, being professional, straight away is telling him, that she is not dating models. So Jax is doing only thing that will keep her next to him: agrees to be her friend. And they are best friends quickly. But when lust, passion and feeling are involved, friendship is quickly not enough. After few months of being friends, they decide to take a chance and start dating. And of course Kallie’s worst nightmare comes true. And their feelings are tested.

This book is amazing. Sexy, making you hot and wet in all the right places.

Kallie is a strong, level headed heroine, that simply knows what she wants. And now? Now she is living her dream, but is she able to risk everything she has and possibly have in the future for a one guy that makes her heart flutter?

Jax… oh my…hot as sin…totally lickable…there is nothing not to love about him. He is one piece of fine man. If I could I would transport him to my bedroom right now (shhh, don’t tell my hubby 😉 ). He is sweet, loves what he is doing and is responsible. He is able to cut his way of living to pursue Kallie. He knows she is worth all the fight. So he is being patient.

Heather amazingly describes the life of a model. Of all the challenges they have. Fighting for privacy, to b recognized and how to divide personal and business life and still stay true to yourself.

Except the main characters, I loved the supporting characters that are there: Max, Brin, Brody, Braden and Blake. They all have a story to tell and I hope Heather will tell us all of them. As I told Heather, Blake is one of those characters, that make you smile, shake your head, want to punch him and still love him anyway. Max, is the friend that is dependable. Brin is the crazy and sex as hell friends, that you don’t have to say anything, she will know that you need her. Brody and Braden, both big brothers, that make you envy that you don’t have a brother like that also.

Amazing, strong and hot as hell, 5 stars!

My body snaps up as I hear the
screams,

“Please just let me go please, I
will not tell anyone where I was or who you are. I just want to be with my mum,

Again I hear the cries of a woman
ring out through the compound, reaching for my clothes I put them on quickly.
Grabbing my phone and the knife I keep close to me, you know because you can’t
be too careful with Harry around.

Stepping out my room, I go in
search of the cries I heard. No-one else seems to be around, listening for
anything that would give her away. I hear the knob of a door turning in the
distance, quickly I rush into an open door careful not to be seen. The smug
look on Johnson’s face tells me that is where she is. I watch and listen for Johnson
to leave, biding my time before I enter what seems to be a cupboard opposite
Harry’s office.

When the coast is clear, I walk
silently over to the room. Turning the knob silently, I’m happy to find it
opens with ease, stupid mistake in my opinion. Walking silently into the room,
it’s in pure darkness the only light coming from the doorway. I close it behind
me gently, walking further into the small space. The smell of sweat, tears and
urine fills the air. Holding my breath I walk along the walls, using my phone I
illuminate the room a little more.

I have purchased this book and was not ask by the Author to do a review. All thoughts here are 100% mine.

This was my first book by Melissa Haag. It was on my TBR list for such a long time! I feel a bit ashamed that I haven’t picked it up earlier! As the book is truly amazing!

My thoughts:
In here we meet Gabby, an orphaned girl, who is telling us the whole story. At the beginning she is only 16, but the real story begins when she is 18 and is just off to go to college.

Gabby is not a normal human. She is special. Except her abilities, that no one knows about, she is one of few humans that are compatible to be a mate to…werewolves. In order to find out more about herself, she moves to Sam, Elder of Werewolves Community. She lives with him 2 years. Their deal was simple. He will give her place to sleep and will take care of her, and she will go with him to werewolves compound every few weeks for introductions to meet a potential mate. For the 2 years she lived with him, nothing happened. Until her last Introduction, where she met Clay. And despite the butterflies in her stomach, she groaned. She was so near her freedom. She is feisty, stubborn and knows what she wants. And it’s no Clay. A man who is barely spending time as a human. He prefers being a wolf. Or that’s what Gabby thinks.

Clay is one sweetheart. He is caring and is determined to stay with Gabby. He is perfect for her. Even if it takes time for her to see that. And it’s not because he cleans, cooks and doesn’t speak. No he is perfect with the way he is taking care of her. Of what he has to endure to just simply be with her.

Her words, when she said that sometimes you don’t have to talk to someone to know them, moved my heart. Those words changed everything, as she was finally admitting that there is something between them.

When she starts her college. Everything changes for her. Her trust is tested. Her feeling are gradually changing towards one guy she was trying to run away from.

The book is amazing and I can’t wait to pick up the next part in the series!
