Broken Blood by Heather Hildenbrand (Dirty Blood, book #5)

I have received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Before I will start my venting…

Small blurb:

2

I thought watching my Werewolf boyfriend get arrested for murder was the worst experience of my life. But then I was knocked out and dragged off to a cell of my own by the very people who were supposed to protect me from danger.

I thought being held prisoner in solitary confinement for weeks on end was the worst experience of my life. But then a visitor came, and I realized I’d been wrong all along. There are worse things than torture and death. Much worse.

He wants my blood. More than that, he wants to get into my head. To use my bond to control his army, to wipe the world clean of anything with dirty blood. I can’t let that happen, but if I don’t he’ll kill every single person I’ve ever cared about — beginning with my Werewolf pack.

The prophecy said I would have to make an impossible choice, but I must be doing this wrong — so far every choice I’ve made has only led to more pain and danger and death. Hunters are pitted against Werewolves and I’m alone in my war against Gordon Steppe. I can’t fight him off anymore; all I can do is try to keep him out of the important places. And I’m failing at even that.

I thought the demons were out there, clearly marked and clinging to the shadows. But they’re not. The monsters are within the ranks of those sworn to protect. The enemy is among us.

My thoughts:

No no no! I can’t believe it’s already last book in this amazing series! I was dragging reading it till the last minute, because I knew that after that it will be over! Ugh, I feel like crying! I know (and I will) I can re-read the whole series, but it’s not the same as reading it first time and being always on edge, because that’s how it is with Heather’s books. I was always on edge and my heart was beating fast as there is so much action! Love it!

In this part we have constant action, drama, love, friendship…everything! And that’s what makes it the best book in the whole series! I love all of them, but this one? Was like WOW!

This part picks up straight where previous book left us, in suspense, wondering what happened next. Tara is locked in a cage, wondering what happened to everyone else. And for me she is simply tortured while being held captive.

I was Team Wes *swoon* from the beginning. I like Alex, but for me he needs someone less hotheaded (like Ang? <– hint here Ms Hildenbrand). He never doubts his feeling toward Tara and always wants to be wherever she is. She is his HOME. And I find that adorable.

The side characters were brilliant as always. Cambria made me laugh and I just love her. She is an amazing friend!

But what I love the most? How Tara is growing and becoming stronger and more responsible. I love the fact that she is not afraid to admit that her decisions are bad. She is still hotheaded, but she fights.

All the twist are mostly explained and resolved, so I am generally happy with the ending, but I wouldn’t mind, like at all, more books with other characters *smirk*

I feel honoured that I was able to review the whole series, it was an amazing and so enjoyable! I am sure that soon I will re-read the series again!

5 FAT, HUGE STARS!

Well done, Heather!

I felt like one of the pack and now it’s over. But a great ending and looking forward to the next generation. Heather awesome job 5 stars here and on amazon. Love you
